Fusion or parallels Page file

I'm confused by something. When I run parallels or fusion, they seem to use the Mac's internal drive as a swap drive? I want to have some control over that, so I can use the external drive that I have the VM's on... since it's faster, and... not my internal drive that I'm using for the Mac OS.

Is this possible?
