| My G4 was in every day use until recently when one morning it refused to boot. Basically the symptoms are you push the power button & the light on the power button comes on but nothing else & when you let the button go the light goes off. It was working fine the day befor & I have tried resetting the PMU but made no difference. Any ideas? Cheers |

| Not sure this is in the right forum, but here goes. Not good news I'm afraid. I had a Quicksilver G4 which was exhibiting the same symptoms, though they were proceeded by a period where it would run for about 5 minutes before powering off. After trying everything I could think of I had to come to the conclusion that it was basically dead. It is impossible even to run a hardware test so I suspected logic board at the very least. If you have a local Apple store it may be worth taking it in for them to take a look, but otherwise it is time to invest in a new one I'm afraid. |

| I see symptoms like this a couple times a month. The fix is usually replacing the power supply. The MDD model power supply is not too cheap, I'm afraid.
