does the retails stores (nyc soho) offer g5s at educational discounts as well? or is it only available thru the online store.

I wish I could tell about the retail store, but the closest one to me is at the mall of america, which is about 6 - 7 hours from where I live.

One thing I would try, is maybe calling them up and see if they honor the education discount? Another thing you might try to, is calling CompUSA and see if they do. I know at one time they had something where they would meet Apple's education discount prices, but that might have been a promo or something.

Anyways, worth a shot.

dammit just found out every Apple Store has that student except Norway Store

Check with your university if they can offer student discounts on Apple hardware directly.
