Final Cut Express HD & monitoring input

    Hi,

Quick question on FCE-HD which I'm hoping someone may be able to answer:

I'm using a MacBook Pro and have my HD Sony camcorder attached via firewire. In FCE-HD it seems that I can only see what the camera is outputting when I actually go in to capture a scene i.e. there is no live preview in FCE unless I am capturing. Is there any way to enable this so I can watch what my camcorder is outputting on my monitor without actually having to start a capture?

    Thanks in advance.

I'd imagine since you have the express version that feature may be disabled, but you could use iMovie do let you see what your camera sees onscreen...

Can you do (Final Cut Pro Menu) -> A/V Settings, Video Playback: Digital Cinema Desktop Preview? (I have only used FCP, but you should have something similar)
