Can I do this without Migrating any of the Mac stuff?

When booting to xp i get "ntldr missing".

I got this error after first mounting, in os x, an external disk that i had used in an old laptop but could not use anymore because it gave me that very message "ntldr missing". The disk was mounted as "no name". I deleted everything that was on it. But got an error message when trying to delete the content so I just unplugged the usb. Big mistake.

Next time I booted to xp partition (boot camp) i got the same message that was on the corrupt disk. ntldr missing. And now - in os x I can still see the external disk - no name. However I cant find the partition for my boot camp installation when I go to disk utility.

I recently tried to resize my windows partition on my macbook pro with OSX 10.5.8 Leopard using Winclone. I went to choose the partition in boot camp that I wanted to add windows to, and I chose the wrong one. When it was almost finished I realized I did not choose the correct partition as is specified in the boot camp instructions from apple, and I panicked and clicked escape and the power button. I went to reboot and got the error message saying non-system disk, press any key to reboot.

At this point, I've backed up all my files and everyone previously to doing this because I knew something bad was likely to happen. I just want to do a system restore, and I'm pretty sure I've messed up the mac partition pretty bad.

Now when I start it and hold down the option button, A windows part comes up but nothing happens when I try to select it. If I don't hold down the option button, I get the error message I mentioned above

Any ideas of what I can do...other than to never trust myself with my computer ever again?

Thank you!

Then there is one last thing I'd like to ask: Does Camtaia Studio 6 (for Windows) even work on Windows 7?

Thanks already,
I have backed up my mac data on a hard drive using CCCloner. And am completely confused as to what to do next. The question(s) I guess I have is how do I back up the Windows data? I have winclone ready to use, but every time I try to use it doesn't open. Do I have to do this from the windows? Obviously I am doing something wrong.

I have yet to use boot camp and at present, my Mac is 100% Mac. I have a XP on a Dell computer and have backed up ALL data (including system and drivers) to an external drive using Acronis TrueImage 2010 backup software for windows. The software will allow you to restore to completely different hardware using an option they sell called Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack.

Is there a way I could create a partition with boot camp assistant and then without inserting any disks, "recover" from the external drive on which I have made a backup using Acronis?

I am trying to do things without having to install all that system software, applications, etc.

Hello everyone. I am a new member to this forum, so just wanted to say hi.

But on to my problem. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. I have a Intel MacBook running OSX 10.5.7, and just recently i have used rEfit to have the option to dual boot from OSX and Linux. But now, due to college requirements i need this macbook to run Windows. I have the legal copy of Windows, and i tried opening up bootcamp to see if i could delete the linux partition on the HD. It refused to be of any use. So now i am stuck and have no idea what my next step should be.

I am usually pretty computer savvy so complex instructions shouldn't be a problem for me. Thanks in advance to any who reply

BTW if it helps any here is the output after i run Partition Inspector

hey everyone, looks like we have some helpful people here so I thought I'd give macosx.com a shot.

I really hate duplicate posts but I've flicked through other thread and seen I have a different problem [excuse me if this isn't the case].

SO, long story short, here are the details:
1. I've accidentally formatted all of my harddrives except for bootcamp [which isn't useful without a mac os x]
2. I haven't completed a windows xp install
3. I have tried to format a partition to ntfs for a clean install
4. leopard didn't like that [told me install failed].

what is the first thing I should do apart from regret not using time machine?

thank you in advance

can i re-install Snow Leopard and still dual boot with the option key?
Will the little diamond icon sill work inside of Windows when i reinstall OSX?

I am trying to avoid restaging the WHOLE machine.
