The reason I have a network like this is a long story - to make it short...

Dear All,

I am planning to build a file server (in a cheaper way) by using a Mac mini with 2TB of external HD attached to it (as start). The Mac mini will be running the Mac OS X Server to handle all the user/account and the external HD can be expended with daisy-chain setup when adding extra storage.

Every user will connect to the storage through the Mac mini and user will have to work off the server which mean user will always connected to the server and there will be a lot of network activity and HD activity as user will constantly reading, writing, moving...etc data on the server.

I am a bit concern that this setup will not work and everything will go very slow. Appreciate if anyone can give me some advice and recommendation.

Thanks~

Hello,

We have a Time Machine and Airport Express in our house. Right now we have 2 laptops on the wireless network, and a couple of ipods.

We also have a Time Machine in the house. I believe the Time Capsule is what the computers connect to and the port is and umm... extension(?) to the network. Sorry if the terminology is wrong.

Anyway, everything is working.

Oh we also have a Wii on this network.

Anyway - we just got an xbox360, and when trying to setup wifi the network scan isn't detecting our network.

I'm pretty sure our network is broadcasting... But to be honest I can't find where I can change those settings!

Anyway, seems the XBox is not seeing my wireless network. Any help troubleshooting this would be appreciated!

I'm at my wits end. Almost.

[UPDATE]

Okay I found in Manual Settings where I can ensure my network is being broadcast, and it is.

I also read around online and see that many people have issues with Time Capsule and Xbox 360. However, I haven'T read of anyone simply not being able to see the network.

This looked promising.
http://www.the8thsign.com/2008/04/15...-time-capsule/

But I actually have it set at 802.11n (b and g compatible) already.

Any further help appreciated!

Windows XP machines outside the subnet can connect to the SMB shares (I've port forwarded 137-139 and 445 to the server), OSX 10.4 machines no longer can (they could connect to the 2003 machine).

> I can ping the gateway just fine, but connections now give Error 36
When trying to do a repair it states "this computer has limited or no connectivity" Tried Static setup no luck just can't discover TVIX. After reading every possible piece of documentation on the web and having two network professionals try to figure it out no luck. It looks like TVIX uses Samba and NFS both of wich are not compatible under Vista. A question I have is does the netshare program provide a NFS platform for Vista? If it does that does not work either.

So Recently I have this issue where when I am connected to the base station wireless I get download speeds of 5Mb but when I connect direct via Cat 6 I get 15Mb. It used to be fine I would get 15-20Mb when wireless. I did some testing with a 100MB image. I transferred the image to several locations on my network both wired and wireless and timed the transfer. The difference in transfer speeds between wired and wireless was ver minimal so it doesnt seem to be an internal network issue.

My setup is a Verizon Fios Cable/modem/router that I have configured to pass the IP to the airport which is configured for DHCP for my devices. I ran a scan of nearby networks and made sure that all my channels and freq's where all different than every one else, I have turned robustness off and on with no change, I have done several hard resets, and I am lost. What could cause the wireless speed to be soo slow? I used to download itunes movies in a matter of minutes now it wants almost 2 hours unless I connect a Cat 6 cable direct to the airport???

Hi,
Any help with this would be much appreciated.
Have a MAC (Leopard) and a PC (XP) at home.
Both have the same version of itunes (9.0.1) running on them. Both have the same version of Quicktime.
When i am on my MAC, and running itunes, i can go to the "Shared" option and see the movies that are in my PC's itunes Library and watch those movies. No problem.
However, if i'm on my PC, and running itunes, i can go to the "Shared" option and see the movies that are in the MAC's Library but CANNOT watch them. They just won't open.
I've tried putting the same movie on both machines, to eliminate the issue if whether its the video files themselves that are different. Same problem. Can play it on the MAC, but not on the PC.
Has anyone ever come across this, and if so is there a fix or that's just the way that it is.

Thanks for the help in advance. Appreciate the advice.
