Recommendations for a burner?

So I pleased to find out on christmas morning that my new LaCie burner does not support burning through iTunes, which really makes the burner seem a lot less cool. So does anyone have a recommendation or has had a good experience with a firewire burner?

Im looking for something top of the line, price pretty much doesnt matter. I'm looking for something 24x+. I know that Apple has a list of compatible drives, but after my supposedly "compatible" drive turned out to be incompatible, I no longer think I can trust Apple's list.

So lets see what you guys come up with.....

I've heard that Yamaha burners work very well with Macs and in general. Any burner that has a Plextor mechanism and Burn-Proof technology should work fine with iTunes/OSX.

hmm, didn't we just do this thread a few weeks ago? try searching the site for 'cdrw' or 'burner' and read a whole bunch of previous responses to this question.

Thanks Ed, I actually have read that thread. I was just looking for a little extra info on whether or not some burneres work with different programs, like iTunes.

I can understand your hate for repeat threads. I feel as though the search button is the most underused part of this site. Just looking for a little extra info.....

I think im going with the yamaha burner. Thanks macko and ed.

actually matrix agent, i don't have anything against repeat threads at all. I just figure than when as many people put input into a thread like the other one, you are not likely to get the same amount of energy this soon. so i just wanted to help you get as much info as quickly as possible. hell, if i hadn't been so tired when i posted that i would have searched and provided the link to the thread for you.

hope you enjoy your new burner!!!

Apple also says that drive manufacturers often change the mechanism in their drive, so even though you might buy a LaCie drive, you may not buy the combination (drive mechanism/drive enclosure) Apple tested... Hence your problem.

Apple's a good company, but it's not God !

Did you talk to LaCie ??? They don't have a bad reputation : they may be willing to help you out...
