Exclamation Does my iMac have a DVD-RW?

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I was using Toast Titanium on my iMac G4 (specs are in the sig) and I noticed that it said "Pioneer DVD-RW" at the bottom. What does that mean?

I checked under the Apple System Profiler and it said:
    "Product Identification--------DVD-RW DVR-104"
Is this a dumb question? Probably is, it just took me by suprise to see DVD-RW everywhere.

Yup....the finder won't let you erase the dvd-rw disk - gotta use toast for that. But once it is erased, if you put it back into the drive, while in finder, it'll ask you for naming the disk, etc..

hey Xaqintosh......which rw disks do you use? I just got some Verbatims two weeks ago....they're nice. Any truth from your experience on the speeds of dvd-r disks, when burning (non apple dvd-r's burn at 1x?)?

I'm gonna be in california next month.....and I'll be stopping by 1 Infinite Loop... any suggestions (anyone)? Like....posing as a cnn reporter, to get an interview with Steve Jobs?

No kidding! Why is Apple saying then that the Superdrive has DVD-R and not DVD-RW? Would be a great selling point...

Well....like I said....that since the finder can't erase the dvd-rw disks (that's done through toast), they are kinda right - it can only do dvd-r. Even though the finder will see it as a dvd-rw disk.

Hopefully there'll be an os update, that lets you do both disks....

I don't think the Finder erases CD-RW's either, but they still call the drive a CD-RW drive. I think you can use Disk Utility.app or Disk Copy.app, BTW, to erase CD/DVD-RW's.

I kinda wish I could erase x-RW's from the Finder though.

When you're having your Capuccino with Mr. Jobs, perhaps you could bring that up.
