| External Drive Is Not Recognized I received this message after restarting my computer with my external drive attached. i have done the same thing as the guy mentioned in this link (http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.php?t=259741) the only exceptions being that i have a 200 GB Maxtor FW and i have files that i had saved to this drive right before i restarted and these are the only copies i have. here is the message that disk utility gives me: Repairing disk for “disk1s3” Volume check failed. Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972) Repair attempted on 1 volume 0 HFS volumes repaired 1 volume could not be repaired any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, bluchair |

| Looks like you need to use a commercial disk recovery program such as Diskwarrior or Techtool Pro. I'd be wary of Drive Genius, a new product. I used the demo on a firewire drive, and it apparently trashed the data on the drive. Doug
