Can't recover old itunes libraries

I recently moved all of my music to a different location on my G4 powerbook. I own a new generation ipod (20 Gigs). After I moved the music I cleared the music from itunes knowing that it wouldn't be able to play, and then proceeded to import the music (now in the new location) back into my itunes library. However, now all the playlists that I had organized for my ipod are gone. I want to add playlists and songs on my ipod but am prohibitted by the new library. Is there any way to recover the old settings or even keep the library the way it is now but still add songs and playlists. Thank you very much for help.
