Can't Print From Excel

I can't print from Excel in Mac OS X (10.2.8) I can print using other applications to the same printer but for some reason the job goes to the printer list quickly then disappears. Meanwhile no print.
I have downloaded the updates for Microsoft but nothing seems to help.

Have you selected an area to print?

Yes, I did select the print area.

Is it the full version of Excel or the Test Drive? I think the Test Drive has printing restrictions.
