Gimp-Print with LaserJet 6P

I installed Gimp-Print 4.2.3 just fine. When I try to print I get one page of garbage characters and then get about 9 to 10 blank sheets. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong, or if there is something wrong with my USB to parralel cable (I am using the USB to parralel cable supplied in the PowerPrint 4.0 package). Has anyone else seen this behavior and can advise me? I would appreciate it very much.

I am desperately looking for a USB to parallel cable to connect a HP 6MP printer to my Mac (OS 10.4). Did you use your cable on OS 9 or X? If you still have it, would you be willing to sell it? Thanks.

Sorry, Copper, the cable is being used.

This Belkin one works just fine with my Laserjet 6MP. There's lots of places to get it.

Make sure it's the Belkin one with the separate (detachable) cable.
