Deletion of file USBdrv.kext file!

Hi there,
I have a G4 Powerbook 15" 1.5Ghz bought new in September 2004.
In recent months i started to receive a yellow 'System Extension USBdrv.kext' notice appearing every time i booted up, saying that the file was not installed correctly and that i should reinstall same or alternatively apply for an upgrade on the web.

After many months of this, i finally tracked the offending file down to the 'System X' folder and removed to trash, emptying it from there.

Now my laptop will only boot to the grey screen with rotating cog!!

I can't get the system restore disks to acknowledge on screen. Can you help please??
Derek

Have you tried inserting the disk, then restarting while holding down the "c" button?
