| Hi8 to Intel Imac Hi - Apologies for what is really quite a basic question from a newbie. I'm about to buy a Imac G5 20" and wondered how I could possibly utilize it to archive old Hi8 camcorder footage. The camcorder features s-video, which I'm guessing is just video. Can I connect this to the s-video port on the imac or is that just an output port? If that is feasible, can I then send the audio from the phono output of the camcorder to the mic input (mini-jack ?) of the imac, or am I barking up the completely wrong tree? If that's the case ... any help will be appreciated. Thanks Seej |

| Nope...you'll need an adapter. The iMac s-video is output only, not to mention that you still would need to convert the analog format of the Hi8 into a digital signal (DV format). The ADS Pyro FireWire AV Link is one option that'll do what you want; connects via FireWire.
