why in the world won't my iBook g3 start

If anybody can help I'd appreciate it!!!

Last Summer I replaced a dead internal drive, but otherwise it never had any problems. Never even the infamous video problems that plague this machine (though its serial no. is in the dreaded range). Later it very rarely would require a few pushes of the power button to start. No big deal, I thought. Until recently, when it wouldn't start even after many tries. Al fin it is now effectively dead.

I've tried: zapping pram, resetting everything I know how to reset--PMU, nvram and "reset-all" in open firmware. All to no avail. And I've tried all variations of battery/no battery, power adapter/no power adapter.

I should add that when I tried the reset PMU key combination with the power adapter plugged in the ring on the adapter would change color for 5 seconds, every time. Indicating at least that the power switch itself is working.

I did the internal drive replacement myself, but was very careful. I don't think I pinched any wires or anything, but it is true that this problem started shortly after.

One expert has suggested that the DC board might be bad, but I thought that the fact that it has exactly the same symptoms with or without battery, with or without power adapter, means it's something else(???)

iBook G3, 700 MHz, 12 inch, "16 vram", new in June 2002.

This sound like the same symptoms as when my logic board went out.
