| Dropped Powerbook, now I can't see the screen? I dropped my PowerBook and can no longer see the screen...there is a very dim image on it but it won't get any brighter and I can barely see the screen. I read that a lot of times this is because the display inverter needs to be replaced. I bought a new one off eBay and replaced it but the screen is the same as it was before. I can see the desktop like normal when i hook up the S-Video connection to my television so it seems like it must be a hardware issue with the display. Does anybody have any ideas what else could be the problem? I need to get it working by next week as I need to go out of town for a week and have to have my comptuer.

| Another possiblity, and more likely since the problem came after you dropped it, is that the backlight on the display may have broken.

| I ended up plugging the white connector/power piece into the wrong plug (there's two that look very similar to one another).

If so, good and good to know that the invertor board can die as a result of dropping the PB. I suspected much worse. |

| Yes, it's working now. I had unplugged that wire that powers that stupid glowing effect by the button in the front, which is the exact same size as the display's plug. Yes, I did a lot of searching and it seems like it's always the IB that goes out whenever the display stops working (when there's a very very dim image that appears).
