| DVI to DVI Hi Forum, I have a Titanium 867 with a DVI socket on the back. I want to connect a new 23" Apple monitor, but the DVI plug at the end of the cable is bigger than the socket on my 867 ! ! ! ! ! They are the same shape but a different size ? It is not a mini DVI, that is on new powerbooks. Any suggestions for a cable or adaptor? Thanks in advance, Dan Wilson Dublin |

| Did you actually try it? The built-in socket on the titanium is a standard, full-size DVI socket. No adapter of any kind is needed for a standard DVI connector, just plug it in. All PowerBooks with DVI connectors are full size (with the exception of the 12" PB, which has the mini-DVI) The MacBooks have the mini-DVI connector.

| Are you sure that you don't have an ADC connection? http://images.digitalmedianet.com/20...dc_dviconn.jpg

| Then it wouldn't be a *new* 23" display, i'd say...

| Thanks for the replies. More information: The powerbook 867 had a DVI-I port that is 26mm wide. The 23" connects to the NVIDIA GeoForce 7300GT card in an Intel G5. The plug from the monitor (that fits into the NVIDIA) is wider than the port on my Mac ? It is called a DVI-I card/port. I have been looking everywhere for a specific answer. Maybe there is a new plug profile for DVI-I. But, I am having no luck saying I have a 26mm DVI-I to DVI-I convertor. The 867 was the first DVI port powerbook in 2002. Still looking for an answer . . . Thanks, Dan |

| Did you try to plug directly into the PowerBook? No adapter is needed, your Cinema display will plug directly into your titanium PB. There is no different sizes of connectors out there (except the mini-DVI, which you don't have). There are different pin configurations, but the connectors almost always mate. Again, no adapter is needed. Your PB, and your display have mating connectors, and you will find that it will work if you try. The display connector appears larger because of the screws on the ends, but the connectors will mate. Quote:

| Is it possible for you to take a picture, or find a picture of your connections?

| Thanks for all your help. I should have tried harder. I went to take a photograph of the plug today and proved to my self that there is not difference. As someone mentioned, I should have just pushed it harder. Thanks for your helps and keep up the good work. Regards, Dan |
