backlight issues

Hi,

I have a first edition macbook. Everyonce in a while, the intensity of the backlight will flicker. Is this a known issue? Also, if I take it in to be serviced, will it be covered under applecare, becuase if not i will be charged for the intial look as well. Has anyone else been having this problem?

Thanks

This is a fairly common problem in all notebook computers, and is caused by damage to the video cable that runs through the hinge. It is a fairly quick and inexpensive fix and yes, it is covered under AppleCare and also under the standard warranty.
