iBook G4 Hard Disk Failure

Last week the hard disk on my iBook G4 died (well, it is not totally dead, it still works for a couple of minutes before giving me the click of death).

This means that I will need to replace it. Since my iBook is out of its warranty period I am probably going to have to do it myself. However I have looked at the guides on ifixit and I happy that I can pull it off.

However, are there any restrictions on the hard disk that I can use to replace the dead one with, other than that it has to be 2 1/2" and IDE?

Also will the DVD disc that came with my iBook be sufficient to re-install the OS?

Regards, Freddie.
