Question external help.....

a friend of mine has got a sony vaio extenal HD and it work fine on his windows but when i pulg it into my usb i can only (read)

having changed to read & write on the windows computer the problem is still there? and i cant change it on my mac,

how do i make this work

The external drive is formatted NTFS, which is fine with Windows, but is read-only on the Mac.
How can you make it work on the Mac? You could format it as FAT32, but that would leave you with file size limitations. You can also format the drive as MacOS extended, but then you would not be able to access the drive from Windows without some software like MacDrive, installed on the PC. If you don't want to access the drive from any PC, then re-partition the drive through Disk Utility on your Mac.
