A3 Scanner? Any that are affordable?

I have recently been house clearing and come across a load of old family documents. There are a few handwritten diaries which are on old odd sized paper. An A3 scanner would copy them but I can't justify a huge cost. it's not artwork, just handwriting and sketches - some faint in pencil - Naval logs that my grandfather wrote and such.

Any recommendations as to a cheap A3 scanner? or someother way of copying?

Could also do with a recommendation for a 35mm slide scanner.

At the moment i have a Canon 1240U A4 scanner.

You can scan in more than one pass then splice the images in Photoshop. It's pretty easy to do.

The 35mm? No opinion.

Alternatively, ask a local commercial printer if they can scan them for you. They'll typically have scanning equipment that is far superior to what you would have access to and won't charge too much - it will work out cheaper than buying an "affordable" scanner and the results will be much better.

This was my thought, also.

Thanks!

I think you're right. I'll have a word with the print shop guy in the high street.

Tried the merge of 2 A4 scans but it got very fiddly and time consuming.
