Apple Airport Base Station N

I hooked my airport base station to my dsl modem, and my modem requires you to input the username and password for hub in the airport settings, and what I think I have to do is tell it to do pppoe or whatever it is. So I did that and it worked, but when I connect to my hub, it's starts counting how long i've been on and i never did that with my other Belkin hub. So is there some other way you can input your password and username without using the pppoe settings.
