Geometry Reset Blues- LaCie electron 19 blue

I have recently acquired a 1999 LaCie electron 19 blue monitor. Does anyone out there have a user manual or any idea how to re-set the geometry? When I try the reset in the menu I get a a message "user timing cannot be reset". In the info page I am apparently "user-3" though what that means is a mystery to me. Also what difference is there between connecting via BNC or D-SUB? Many thanks.
