Help! Digital camcorder!

Hi Yall!

I'm new to this forum and looking forward to your valuable advice!

I need to purchase a digital camcorder for my music studio. Nothing fancy, just something to record our recitals and workshops. I have a 12" G4 Powerbook running on Mac OS 10.4.11 Any suggestions will be most helpful.

Thanks so much!!

What sort of budget are you looking at?

My recommendation though is to go with a Mini-DV camcorder. DVD camcorders are an unwanted extra step in importing video to your computer, and use a fair bit of power and make a fair bit of noise. Consumer level HDD camcorders compress their video. A Mini-DV camcorder will get you better results in the long run.

Read the reviews, too. I'm not happy with my JVC camcorder; I bought it on the assumption that it would be good enough, based on brand, but in actual fact it is far below what I'd expect even for an entry-level model like that. Its design is weird and awkward, with poorly placed ports and controls and far too much hum and noise.
