| I need a really good system. Should I splurge on these? http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...nplm=TK760VC/A My NUMBER ONE concern is this: ARE THEY SHIELDED? i.e. -- will my %#&* iPhone (or any cell phone) cause the speakers to rattle and pop and scream like a banshee at any close proximity? You guys must know this phenomenon I'm talking about. 2. Are there any 24 hour apple stores besides the new york one? Thanks! :-D

| follow up: gah, I found these also on apple: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...nplm=TK200VC/A And one of the line items it says - magnetically shielded But the companion 5 doesn't say that And anyway is that what will prevent the cell phone interference noise?

| Shielded speakers will help, but in my experience the interference still happens with GSM phones. You could wrap the speakers in tinfoil, and then ground the tinfoil. That might reduce sound quality a bit, though. ![]()

| Slashdot article: http://ask.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/04/07/2111217 I fight the issue by simply moving my iPhone to the speaker rack behind me. This seems to stop all interference.
