| This is not a feature of Microsoft Messenger. Mercury Messenger reportedly supports webcams over MSN. However, it can only receive webcam streams. |

| yes, this is true. Microsoft have never supported webcams on Mac, and the 3rd party msn apps have had a hard time developing a working webcam solution for the protocol. aMSN, which is a rather ugly Java port of Windows messenger has some basic support for webcams, as does the above mentioned Mercury Messenger for msn, although it's just downstream. a lot of people i know have been signing up for a free .mac account just to use iChat with, and with more and more people getting macs, the iChat networks seem to be improving in popularity. that is the single best webcam experience there is on the consumer level, mac or pc.

| Well, both Yahoo & MSN partenerd recently and added the ability for adding @hotmail and @msn users to your Yahoo Pal List -- And @yahoo folk to Messenger Mac's list -- so that's a step in the right direction. I'd be curious to know if - on the PC side - if a PC webcam MSN user can share video with a camera-enabled Mac Yahoo user. Does 'View My Webcam' show up? It'd be a good thing to test and possibly add to my http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com site FAQ. Thought I'd read a rumor that the Mac Business Unit - once Office 2008 was finally shipped - would be releasing a much improved (read video-enabled) Mac Messenger later this year... |
