F buttons stopped working

The F buttons on my Macbook have stopped working (e.g the volume change/brightness/track skip... etc).

I cant find anything in the system preferences about it...

Any ideas as to what has gone wrong?

Try holding the Function Key down. If that makes a difference then check your prefs again.
