Unhappy Dyntex Multimedia Keyboard compatability with Imac

Hi!

I'm new here so hopefully this is the right place to post this question.
I have an older mac. One of the lampshade styles. It's Mac OS X version 10.4.11.
Anywho, I was a total idiot and spilt milk on my keyboard the other night. The first time I have done this in the almost 5 years that I have owned it!
Naturally this pretty much totalled the keyboard, leaving only a few random buttons working.
I decided to get a cheap keyboard since money is tight, just something to do the job until i can get a new mac altogether. My boyfriend (a PC user and Mac enemy lol) bought me a DYNEX multimedia keyboard that was supposed to be mac compatable. It worked at first, after we set up the keyboard recognition so other than a few odd key changes everything was good. Every time that my computer goes to sleep mode however and comes back to the regular screen the keyboard stops working. The only thing to do to get it to start working again is to unplug it and plug it back in again, which is obviously a pain. I checked DYNEX's sight and saw that they had no drivers
-_-
I've tried googling this with little to no luck. ANy ideas of what i can do?

1. Get a new boyfriend that knows ALL computers.

2. In OS X launch System Preferences->International and in the International pane select the tab Input Menu. In Input Menu put a check mark in Character Palette & Keyboard Viewer. Then use the scroll down and select you country's flag. This will put your country's flag in the top left of the Finder bar. Once the pops up you can click it and "Show Keyboard Viewer". Once that pops up you can see the viewer flash when you press a key. This way you can get familiar with the keyboard layout.

3. Know your Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts.

4. Reset your Pram and it might help.

5. Good Luck.

Thanks for your help! I'm still having the same problems so it looks like it's just gonna be a matter of putting up with this keyboard for now and buying a better keyboard when i can.
