"EPSON Scan cannot be started"

I get this error message about 1/3 of the time when I power on my Epson Stylus CX4600. I know printer software is notorious for being s**t, but is there any workaround to get rid of this? (The programs work fine, I just want to know if I can not have this error message display in the first place.)

Epson support just keeps telling me to reinstall the software, I've done it a couple times already but it always comes back. Thanks
