Error 0x80020025 - Optical Drive suddenly won't recognise CD-Rs

Hi

My CD drive in my Macbook 1.1 Intel Core Duo 1.83 GHz has just started giving me an error when I insert a blank CD-R. Previously I have had no problem burning CDs, and it still appears to recognise audio CDs.

The error message I receive is (0x80020025) - that the drive is not recognised. The drive is a MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8221 that came built into the Macbook, and I am running 10.4.11. I have checked software update, and I am up to date. I have tried installing patchburn, and that hasn't helped. Occasionally it has allowed me to burn a disc up to 41.2%, but then it ejects the disc with another error. Unfortunately I have not made a note of that error code.

I am trying to burn a data disc of photographs.

Can you offer any suggestions? Is there a fix available? I've tried reinstalling the 10.4.11 update, and that hasn't helped.

Regards,

Ben
