Seeking Wisdom Re: iBook G4 ram

hi.

so i've got this old ppc g4 1.2ghz that's my pet project, trying to prove to its previous owner (my gf) that it's still a viable laptop...so I upgraded from panther to tiger and the restrictive ram (256mb) is even more of an issue. Really sux. So I hit a hardware website and it specified that the memory in it is 200pin ddr sodimm pc2700. I love to get all my junk off craigslist, but man nobody has any of this. Wondering if ddr2/ddr3 would work if it fit. what about that whole 2700 thing, something i definitely have to stick to?

thanx in advance (or just thanx for bothering to read)

Even though you love Craigslist, there's absolutely no reason to use it as the sole source of computer parts.

Yes, you need PC-2700 SO-DIMMs for the iBook. No, you cannot use the newer DDR2/3 RAM.

PC-2700 RAM is relatively inexpensive anywhere you look (as long as they have it, which negates using Cragslist):

Well, you can wish in one hand and sh*t in the other, and see which one fills up first.

Heh... that line used to tick me off when I would hear it as a youngster (begging for a trip to the arcade, wanting a new blah-blah, etc.).

It's nice that I'm old now and can turn the tables. :P As rude as the saying sounds, it's just about the truest thing I've ever heard.
