You may want to check and see if the DVI port on the PowerBook is a DVI-D port, meaning it only carries a digital signal, and will not work over composite (which is an analog signal). Look here on the right-hand side, toward the bottom of the page, for some diagrams: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface If the DVI connector on the PowerBook looks like either the third or fourth diagram (the DVI-D ones), then unfortunately, I don't think you'll be able to output composite video from the adapter.

apparently all the pins are present ont the PB connector which does not give much information as some of them are used for the analogic signal (i dont understand why it would'nt work as there is also a S-video connector which means there IS analogic video produced by the PB, i am waiting for an OEM s-video adapter) the apple external adapter matches the DVI-I drawing (single link) but i have another dvi adapter which looks exactly like the one called DVI-A the A standing i assume for Analogic, i tried it hooked to my vga/composite cable with no luck Philippe |
