| Powerbook G4 Titanium Mercury HD Ribbon cable?
I picked up another powerbook yesterday for 30 bucks because it wouldnt turn on, it turned out to be a ground issue and it was back on its way to working, the disk in the hard drive is broken (very obvious) im going to order a new one, but i took another hard drive out of a dell, and plugged it in, but it still doesnt bring up the hard drive when i try to "select a destination to install OS X. So i know that the hard drive i put in works, and i can hear it spinning, so im hoping that it just has something to do with the ribbon cable that goes from the hard drive to the motherboard, and not the pluggin on my motherboard. So does anyone know where i could get a replacement ribbon? i looked on ifixit.com and they only have the cd/dvd ribbon. Thanks |

Did you format the drive with Disk Utility? More than likely, the drive did not come formatted in a format that is compatible with a Mac OS X installation. It could be as simple as drive format instead of a ribbon cable. If Disk Utility doesn't "see" the drive, though, then it may very well be the ribbon cable.
