ibook g4 ram question

I have an older ibook, 933MHz, and want to upgrade ram.. All the sources sy that 640 is the max. I have heard that you can go up to 1.25, but don't know for sure if it would work. this article seems to support that... Any thoughts from the gurus?

This should be accurate info for your memory upgrade:
Your iBook G4 has just one memory slot.
It can take either a PC-2100 or PC-2700 SO-DIMM, with a maximum capacity of 1GB for one chip. Your iBook G4 has 128 MB of memory that's built-in, so adding 1 GB will give you the total possible of 1.128 GB

640 is the "Apple-supported" max.

The hardware can support more, though. Kind of like some of the early MacBooks -- Apple claimed they only supported 2GB, though, in reality, they supported more.

iBook G3 will support 512MB in the one slot. The max adds to the built-in memory, which could be 32, 64, or 128MB, depending on the model of G3 iBook.

An iBook G3 can't use a 1GB chip. It may simply not recognize it, or not boot at all.
And, I don't think you can find a 1GB PC133 SO-DIMM chip...
The 1GB that you might see are always 2x512 MB sets.
The G3 is limited to one 512 MB chip max
