Question PowerBook G4 firewire won't work anymore???

Here is my situation:
----
PowerBook G4 / OS 10.5.8
----

I don't know what happened 'cause my firewire just won't work. Is it because I installed Office 2004? or...?

I had tried different firewire cables and external HDs, none of them can mount. I discovered that if I connect firewire to a 2.5" HD, the 2.5 HD's power is just on, however, can't be mounted.

May it because of some driver problem? or driver version?
(again, PowerBook G4 with OSX 10.5.8...)

I really need HELP!!

I have read this link:
http://macosx.com/tech-support/mac/m...rive/1656.html

But I don't know if it suits me.

Thanks for any suggestions.
