    airport extreme speed?

    Hi,

I'm about to switch to extreme airport, however, I have one question....

I heard that airport is downward compatable... ie, it can handle both b and g. However, I also heard that it will only go as fast as the slowest airport. Ie... if you have two computers, one with an old airport card, and one with a new one, you will only be able to access the network at the speed of the old...

Any one know about this? Because this is my situation, an old and new laptop.

True, if both laptops are on wireless. However, if the old one is connected with cable, you'll get full 54 Mbps speed (that's 6,75 MB per sec). Just be aware that only the newest models support airport extreme cards
