Question New iPod and Powerbook g3

I have a powerbook g3 (bronze keyboard, so no built-in firewire port) with a firewire PC card. Do people think that the new iPod's would work with this configuration? I know the web-site says they are for computers with built-in firewire, but I've never had a compatability issue with my firewire card. Thanks.
