    Headphone jack issue

So I was using my headphones this morning and unplugged them to plug my speakers in my only the laptop speakers work and now when I plug my headphones in they don't work either. It's like the jack port has been bypassed. I tried changing the settings but they only option is in-built speakers. Really annoying and it's new macbook pro. How can I solve this? Help please?! Thanks!

Reset your SMC. See if that helps.

Have you tried any other audio devices such as USB I/O? Sometimes changing the audio system properties to another I/O will jog the machine into recognizing the built-ins again.
