EyeTV not recognized as video source

There is a problem with ElGato EyeTV (USB) concerning several webcam applications like SiteCam (NuSpectra). Although the video signal comes in via USB, SiteCam and other applications (BTV, EvoCam, ImageCaster, Oculus, ...) do not recognize EyeTV as a valid video source. I want to use a standard video cam conneceted to EyeTV (AV) as a weathercam. Got no reasonable answer from ElGato, and I/O Experts don't have EyeTV on their OS X drivers list yet. Any idea how OS X can be tuned to recognize a certain USB source as the default video source? Thanks a lot from Germany!
