I know it doesn't belong in my mac, but…

I picked up an HP 300I DVD writer for a good price, and it works well in my G3 except for one issue. I can't eject a disc if I leave the drive alone for about 10 minutes. Not from an OS command (OSX), not from a keystroke, and not from the button on the drive face.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Make sure "Put hard drives to sleep when possible" isn't checked in the Energy Saver System Preference.

If that doesn't help, set it so that "Put your computer to sleep" is set to never. That should fix it if the hard drive sleep doesn't.
