| Help with RAM purchase I upgraded my iMac G4 800MHz a few months ago with a 512MB SDRAM chip purchased from eBay. Obviously the original 256MB SDRAM DIMM that came in the iMac runs at 133MHz (backed up by System Profiler), however it is telling me that my new 512MB DIMM is running at 100MHz. Does this other slot run at a slower speed or did I just happen to purchase 100MHz RAM? If so, do you think the below is a good investment: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....158114914&rd=1 Thanks a lot, Chris

| Yep, that's correct -- the system bus is 100MHz, and I believe that the iMac Flat-Screen has one 133MHz RAM slot which is accessible only to service people (but users can get at it as well with a little disassembly) and one 100MHz user-accessible RAM slot. They even take different sizes of memory (one 168-pin slot, one 144-pin slot).

| Oh I see, so the user accessible slot only runs at 100MHz, so the RAM I have in there is fine I guess?

| Yep, if your computer is operating normally with it and the entire RAM chip is "seen," (ie, if a 512MB chip shows up only as 256MB, that's a problem) then it should be fine! Strange RAM layout those machines have, no?
