i was contemplating that already... i removed all memory of that printer from macos and reinstalled it just now - it worked! i have the second print now!
Try deleting the printer from the Printer utility and add it again and see if it works.

I have recently purchased the Epson Stylus C46, and am having problems obtaining the drivers. I am running Microsoft Word '98 For Mac on the OS9 . Is there any way of making them compatible? If not, any ideas which printer to go for?
just find the gimp-print drivers from version tracker, that should sort you out until MacOS supports this relatively new printer.
this is one area where windows is better: just as security is built into the core of macOS, compatibility is built into the core of XP - installing anyrthing is so much easier in a windows machine
