HI had the same problem this morning with my epson stylus photo 700. As akward as it might sound I solved it by pulling out the ink cartridges and putting them back as if I changed them. Don't know if it will help you but worked for me ;-)
I have an Epson Stylus C46. it's not responding - it's bloody frustrating to say the least cos i can't think of anything to do. any thoughts?
it starts printing in the printers box, says the job gets to a certain percentage (but never actually does anything) then says 'Printer not responding'.
it's plugged into my g5 tower via usb - it was plugged into slot 1 of the cinema display (20" 2004 design) but is now on the hi-speed port on the front of the tower. in 10.3.7 there are no drivers for this printer, as it was too new (i only got it last week) so i got the gimp-print drivers for it. i have printed one thing out on it before but nothing since. i now have 10.3.8.
any thoughts - i'm desperate!

i cant get it to let me change the ink! there's only two buttons on the top - power and maintenance. one turns it on, the other feeds the paper through! i've tried different pressed times and everything. help!! it's a piece of junk!
also if this doesn't work has anybody else got anythoughts?

You bought a printer that's not Mac compatible;
System Requirements Microsoft Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
but it does work! i have printed out on it. it's just stopped working now.

right. i have now accepted that it isn't *officially* compatible. the fact remains that is *has* worked, i printed an illustrator doc on it. so therefore it *can* work. it just doesn't now. does anybody know (anything now) any way to get it working? any tricks or tips i'm overlooking? any way to jumpstart into working? it works fine on bloody PC's anyway. I've wasted money on this. Macs are supposed to be the easiest to use machines in world - easier than a toaster if you believe the bloody website. why is it that *my* epson is the ONLY printer not supported by panther?, even the only epson for christs sake.....
please help. anyone? i'd be so grateful![]()

Macs are extremely easy to use. Problems occur when you purchase something, that the manufacture states, isn't compatible with MacOS, such as the C46.
It's not the only printer not supported by the MacOS.
look, i really don't need defence for macOS - the apple site is full of it. what i do need is tips on how to get this printer to work - it's not completely incompatible - the GIMP drivers support it, albeit not officially from a manufacturer POV. like i said - it HAS worked in the past, it just doesn't now. there is a way to get it working, and i know someone here must know - you're all really helpful all the time (nearly) and it shows the internet can be a vast knowledge base. in return, i have helped other people where i can, i hope someone can help me iron out one of the only problems remaining after my switch 4 months ago - i have learnt so much from this community it's unbelievable - i'm no numpty, just unfamiliar with macOS X - i'm usually the one who fixes everyones PC's - it was so hard using a computer i didn't know my way around, but this forum has helped me get to a level where i can work again.
it's just this one problem now, and it is a fixable problem
