New iPod minis - not old vs new?

Just made a mental connection regarding the new iPod minis:

I previously thought the choice was between 6G (new stock) and 4G (old stock, being cleared out at lower prices) models.

However, I've now realised that the 4G models are also probably new stock (same capacity as the old models, but with an 18 hour battery and lower price).

I find it interesting that Apple feels there's a market for both - there's only a $50 price difference between the 4G and 6G models.

and there is also only a $50 difference between the 1G shuffle and the 4G mini. for alot of people that extra $50 would not be worth it. especially to someone in highschool or junior high even. the thing i was most impressed with is that i think they dropped the ipod photo 60G $150 if i remember correctly.
