Real world battery life time on new 20gb iPod

I see that they raised the battery life estimate on the new 20Gb ipods (not photo) to up to 14 hours of battery life.

Could anyone make an educated (or non-educated) guess as to what this will translate to in the real world for listening to music...
while new and also a year down the road ?

I'm hoping to get about 10 new and 7-8 in ayear.
Think that's a good guess ?

(though, my old ipod was supposed to get 6-8 hours and it was like 3 new and 2 after 9 months)

Where did you hear about this? I checked the UK Apple site and it states 12 hours.

I have an iPod Photo, and I get about 13-14 hours battery life, I've had it for 2 months or so.

DeltaMac will become famous soon enough
according to Apple's tech page for the Photo iPod:
Up to 15 hours of music playback; up to 5 hours of slideshows with music...
The key words are: "Up to", Like lots of other tech issues - YMMV !
You can maximize battery life in several ways, by letting music play continuously, without backlight, don't fast forward through the playlist. Lots of other tips for more iPod battery life HERE
