I saw a cool MacOSXHints' Airdrop Hint today.
So in your unsupported Airport card (has to be N) just open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal and put in the code (no sudo required):
Then just hold down the option(alt) key and click on the Dock's Finder icon and choose 'Relaunch'.Code:defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1
Airdrop is ready to use and it works in my 10.7.x 2007 Mac Book Pro with my 2008 Mac Pro, so it works!
