Apple has chosen its carriers for the iPhone launch in Europe, according to a report published Tuesday in the Financial Times. The report, citing unnamed sources, said the chosen partners are T-Mobile Deutschland for Germany, O2 in the UK, and Orange SA for France.

Still no news whether it'll be the 1.0 version or something a little more, say, 2007/2008. Mainly, I mean: UMTS.

Still no indication of when. I'd really like even the vaguest idea, if its December then I can't wait that long, my current phone isn't going to make it until then. I'm not sure it'll make it until the end of the week. But if its likely to be only a few weeks I could muddle through, I guess. These inevitable delays with Apple launches really make me feel like I'm in the 3rd world.

Ask a couple of friends whether they can lend you an older phone. With everyone getting a new phone every year or two (renewing or switching contracts), there's _bound_ to be some decent Nokias and SEs around your neighbourhood. You could even buy one off for 20-30 EUR.
