| firewire vs. usb i have a 3g ipod, firewire stock interface with the dock. now all dock ipods are usb. will it hurt my ipod or computer if i buy a usb cable and sync/charge it that way? i ask because i have heard of someone melting their ipod when it was plugged into a dock of the other type of interface ( but don't remember if it was a fw ipod in usb, or usb ipod in fw).

| you should be fine. I think what are talking about a guy tryed to dock his 2 gen iPod with the USB cable. that iPods battery was not set up to take the power from USB only firewire.
