firewire connection problem needing help so desperately!!!

i get a ipod from one of mine friend it is an old model he says 2nd generation which only have a firewire cable slot on it.My pc dont have firewire slot so i bought a pci firewire port card i installed drivers but windows xp cant see my ipod only charging batteries of it.im sure there is no porblem of hardware both of ipod and pci card.where can be the problem???

I might be mistakin', but if memory serves me right, the 2nd Generation iPods were not native Windows compatible. I'm not 100% sure though, so maybe someone else wants to back that up/deny that.

There are software solutions that can enable it though. My brother in law enabled his 1G iPod for Windows. I'm not really familiar with those, so you might want to google for it

If the iPod is still formatted for macintosh, it needs to be re-formatted for windows.

do you have the latest itunes installed? it should see that an ipod is there, and ask if you want to format it for windows. thats what it did when i pugged my 3g ipod in the first time.

i have the latest itunes and my friend has used this ipod properly in his windows also i look about in the settings it says this machine formatted for windows.anymore idea why my computer cant see ipod???

If the iPod is still set for "automatic update", Windows may not see it but iTunes should.
