old iPods

Hey everyone,

I have realized that Apple is being increasingly mean towards my old G4 iPod. they no longer sell any cases at their stores. i also feel that my Powerbook G4 is old after the new Macbooks are out. how long does everyone think that software, hardware, etc. will be available for my Powerbook and how long before Apple starts either:

1: Using music data encoding that my G4 iPod cant recognize.

2: iTunes 7 (or 8, or 9, or 10) will not work to update my iPod
